Our class is rich with literature. Our literacy block is 120 minutes with part of the time working as a whole group and working in small group activties as well as a skills block. The activties at the independant stations are at the childrens instructional level and differentiated  | | Books |
accordingly.
We have a weekly poem and a song that goes with the poems as well as poem folders with copies of all the poems that have been introduced.
We have a weekly big book that we use as our Shared Reading book. With each shared reading book we  | | Shared Reading Books |
also have six extra copies of the book.
Our classroom library if full of books that are at the kindergarten reading level. We call them "I can Read Books." There is a book for all readers in our classroom library. We have baskets of alphabet books, math books,  | | Phonics & Friends Phonics Curriculum |
popular books and science books. We also have many books on tape for the listening center.
We try to label everything in our room and have a word wall that grows with us as our use and need for words blossoms.
All rooms have word walls.
Right outside our door we have a list of all the books we have read together which far exceeds the standard of twenty-five.
It is so exciting when the kindergarten students are diving into all the exciting books our room has to offer.
