Fourth Grade Learners

In the beginning of the year fourth Grade students review the Elements of Art.  Once they have demonstrated an understanding they are ready to review their knowledge of the art history time line.  Fourth grade will review what they remember from previous experiences about the history of art.

Students will learn about how their environment has been effected by the history of art.  They will begin their understanding at the beginning of art during the Paleolithic Era (33 000 BCE) with cave paintings.  The class will discuss how stories were told from generation to generation.  We will also talk about how music was infused in creating artwork  We will also discuss how form was depicted on a flat surface and how they moved images onto a form.

This year we created Paleolithic Drums with decorations on the side that were relevant to the era. When the students were done they wrote about their drum, evaluated their work with a rubric, and highlighted the state standards they accomplished.
